Two kits. One roof install option.
Same 460W DMEGC bifacial panels in both kits. Pick the 2 Panel for the lower-cost entry, the 3 Panel to max out Utah's 1,200W legal ceiling, or add the roof install if you'd rather hand the install to us.
What you're actually buying
Here's what ships in every kit and why we picked these parts.
460W DMEGC bifacial panels
DMEGC is one of China's largest tier-1 panel manufacturers, Bloomberg Tier 1, IEC and UL certified. The 460W bifacial cells have a glass back instead of a sealed backsheet, so they pick up ground-reflected light and produce 5–15% more in real installs than equivalently-rated monofacial panels. 25-year power-output warranty. Two ship with the 2 Panel kit, three with the 3 Panel.
Microinverter — APsystems EZ1 or NEP BDM-1200-LV
The 2 Panel kit uses the APsystems EZ1 — the most widely deployed plug-in microinverter on the market, over a million units sold worldwide, 12-year warranty. The 3 Panel kits use the NEP BDM-1200-LV, rated at exactly 1,200W AC (the legal ceiling under HB 340), 10-year warranty. Both are UL 1741 anti-islanding certified — the same safety standard professional rooftop systems use.
Mount hardware + 25-ft outdoor plug-in cable
Both kits ship with an aluminum ground-mount frame. Bolts together, sits on the ground, no concrete needed. If you add the roof install on the 3 Panel kit, we swap in rooftop mounting hardware and put it up for you. Every kit includes a 25-ft outdoor-rated cable that reaches the typical homeowner's outdoor 120V outlet.
Why two kits, not one
The 2 Panel is the lowest-cost way into plug-in solar at $999. Fits a balcony or a corner of the yard. The 3 Panel is what most people end up wanting once they do the math: maxes out the 1,200W legal ceiling, best $/watt, fastest payback. The roof install is for the 3 Panel buyer who'd rather have our crew mount it than do it themselves. More on how the kits work →
About the kits
Which kit should I get?
If you have an outdoor outlet at patio or ground level and a sunny spot to set the panels, the 3 Panel is the kit most people want. Best $/watt, fastest payback, maxes the legal ceiling. The 2 Panel is the lower-cost way to try plug-in solar without committing to the bigger kit. The roof install is the hands-off option for the 3 Panel buyer who doesn't want to touch a wrench.
What's the difference between the inverters?
The 2 Panel uses the APsystems EZ1 (900W AC) — over a million units deployed worldwide, 12-year warranty. The 3 Panel kits use the NEP BDM-1200-LV (1,200W AC, the legal ceiling), 10-year warranty. Both are UL 1741 anti-islanding certified.
Can I get the 2 Panel kit roof-mounted?
Not as a standard add-on, the roof install package is built around the 3 Panel kit's hardware. If you want a 2 Panel kit on your roof, text us when you order and we'll quote it custom.
What's the warranty?
25-year panel power-output warranty. 10–12 years on the microinverter depending on which one. If we install your kit on the roof, add a 1-year workmanship warranty on the install. Full warranty page →
Do I need a smart meter?
Yes — Rocky Mountain Power needs a bidirectional smart meter to read your offset correctly. Request one for free before you plug in. Full RMP guide →
